Tamron announces the release of its best-in-class 70-300mm F/4-5.6 telephoto zoom lens with Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) and Vibration Compensation (VC). The premium telephoto zoom, the SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD (Model A005) for the Nikon mount.

This lens is a capable telephoto zoom lens to cover the medium telephoto range of 70mm-300mm for a 35mm full-size SLR camera, or as a zoom lens to cover the long telephoto range equal to 109mm-465mm*4 when used with an APS-C digital SLR camera. It is ideal for shooting fast-moving subjects such as trains or airplanes. The lens also dramatically increases photographic expression delivering better hand-held shots in low-light conditions such as in the evening or at night.

• (*1) XLD stands for Extra Low Dispersion. 　An XLD lens is made from specialized high-grade glass that has lower dispersive properties than standard LD lenses.
• (*2) USD - Ultrasonic Silent Drive is Tamron's proprietary ultrasonic motor drive.　
• (*3) The Sony mount is not equipped with the VC image stabilization mechanism as anti-shake function is included in the body of Sony digital SLR cameras. Consequently, the name of the Sony mounted lens, SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di USD, does not include the VC description.
• (*4) Tamron's conversion is 1.55x.
