Overview of "Ikiru" (Living in Severity) - One Year After the Great East Japan Earthquake - photo exhibition

Main purpose:
Mass media has been extensively reporting on the situation in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake that struck on March 11, 2011. In that, the work of media photographers has been spectacular in showing what happened there.
JPS held its Great East Japan Earthquake Fund-Raising Photo Exhibition at Fujifilm Photo Salon at the end of last April. All proceeds went to the people living in the disaster-stricken areas through the Asahi Shimbun Society Welfare Organization.
As photographers from around the world exhibit and publish their images of the destruction, more and more people realize that photography plays a very important role in recording our history. JPS thus put great consideration into how it could make contributions through photographs. And as a result, it decided to organize another photography exhibition and publish a collection of photographs in March of 2012, one year after the disaster.
