"Oxbow"

This photo was taken at a very popular location called Oxbow Bend. It's about halfway between Jackson Hole and the southern entrance to Yellowstone. We had arrived and hour or so before sunrise, and staked out our vantage point. The light at sunrise was contrasty and very dramatic...it was really spectacular. This image was taken about an hour later. The light took a drastic turn toward a pastel look, and as a result we came away with 2 completely different shots of the same place. Shot with the Tamron SP AF28-75 zoom at f/11 at a 15th.

"Eagle Fish"

This was taken with the Tamron AF300mm F/2.8 tele at a 750th at 2.8. We were aboard a 40 foot yacht, off the coast of Sitka Alaska. There was a group of Bald Eagles fishing for the schools of herring that were surfacing, right near us. Initially, we figured that the eagles were trying unsuccessfully to grab salmon...but, when we looked at the images, we could clearly see the many herring tightly clutched in their talons.

"Deer"

This was at Yellowstone mid September of 2004. A freak snowstorm hit us, and we took off on a hike to shoot the newly snow covered pine trees. As we walked through the forest, we came upon these 2 deer...luckily, we had the Tamron SP AF200-500 zoom already mounted on the Fuji S2. I was only able to get off a few frames...wide open at a 15th.

"Buffalo"

This was taken on a workshop while testing out the new Tamron SP AF200-500mm zoom. We had been following a herd of bison as they meandered through a meadow near Old Faithful. This was taken wide open at 6.3 at 500mm. The rotating collar made it easy to switch to vertical. And the amazing sharpness at the widest aperture really paid off.
