TAMRON SPONSORS LANDSCAPE AND NATURE PHOTOGRAPHER DON GALE ON PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP CRUISE TO ALASKA

ms Norwegian Star Departs August 22, 2004

April 27, 2004, Commack, NY-Tamron announced the sponsorship of landscape and nature photographer Don Gale at the exclusive PHOTOgraphy/Shutterbug photography workshop cruise to Alaska. The event includes seminars and hands-on clinics with world renowned photographers including Gale, Monte Zucker, Ron Leach and George Schaub. The 7-night/8-day cruise departs Seattle on August 22, 2004.

In addition to all of the activities aboard the ms Norwegian Star and at each Alaskan port-of-call, the cruise event includes a photography workshop for those participants booking the cruise through The Cruise Authority at www.photographycruise.com.

Gale, a professional user of Tamron products for more than 15 years, and the other celebrity photographers will take participants on private excursions and photo shoots at the ports-of-call, including Glacier Bay National Park, Ketchikan, Victoria and more. The photographers will dine and attend other private and ship-wide social events with workshop participants affording a great deal of time for discussion and mentorship from the masters. The photographers will also perform individual critiquing of portfolios.

Don Gale conducts photography workshops year-round across the country and is an accomplished professional photographer, with demonstrated expertise in the specialty areas of commercial, industrial, portraiture and outdoor photography. Additionally he is a faculty member teaching at Tri-Community Photography Center in California, a guest lecturer, the subject of featured interviews and has produced two instructional videos. The second video, "Photographing San Francisco and California's Central Coast" was released in the spring of 2003 by Don Gale Productions in conjunction with Tamron, and was a Telly Awards Winner for best "How To" instructional video as well as the Axiem Award Winner for "Best Editing".

First introduced to photography through a local Boy's Club group at age 15, he's been personally and professionally committed to the art form since that time. Today, Don is an award-winning photographer who has earned national recognition for his work. He is an avid hiker with a passion for the back country of California's breathtaking Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains and has developed the Wilderness Series, a photographic line of prints depicting some of the most beautiful natural settings and wildlife in the country.

Don conducts in-studio as well as on-site photographic workshops at some of the most beautiful locations in the world. A user of both film and digital cameras, he covers all the basic techniques and more in his workshops: metering, composition, digital and film choice, strobe lighting, reflector-fill, close-ups, gear, time-exposures, polarization and warming filters, and split-field neutral-density grads.
