Q05Can Tamron lenses be used with adapters of other companies?
We do not guarantee the performance of the tele converters which are manufactured by the other companies when you use them with our lenses.
VC (Vibration Compensation)
-
Q01Is it possible to use the Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism with not hand-held shooting?
VC may work incorrectly with not hand-held shooting (e.g. the camera is fixed on a tripod or monopod), so it should be switched off.
-
Q02Can the Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism be used for panning?
VC can be turned on and used even when panning.
*It may not be panning depending on the shooting conditions, so it should be switched off.
*The Model A025 (70-200mm G2), the Model A022 (150-600mm G2) can be used for panning by setting the VC mode switch to MODE 2 (Panning mode). -
Q03What is the difference between "MODE" of the Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism?
Affected models
Model A022 (150-600mm G2)
Model A025 (70-200mm G2)
Model A035 (100-400mm)Switch the mode depending on the shooting conditions.
- The standard mode;
It balances finder-image stability and compensation effects.
Normally, you can use it in this mode.
- The panning shot mode;
For the Model A022 (150-600mm G2) and the Model A025 (70-200mm G2)
- The Capturing image stabilization prioritized mode;
It prioritizes compensation effects, compensating only at the moment the shutter is released.
As the viewfinder image is not stable, it is not suitable for landscapes or portraits which is needed precise composition.
Effective for sports photography which the reduction of subject blur is required to the maximum, and when the feet are unstable.
Names of lenses
-
Q01What is the name "Di", "Di II" and "Di III"?
Tamron lenses are divided into the following three series;
Di series : For full-frame Digital SLR Cameras
Di II series : For APS-C Digital SLR Cameras
Di III series : For Mirrorless Cameras
*Lenses for APS-C Mirrorless cameras which were launched after Janurary 2021, "Di III-A" is included in the lens name.
For more information about the compatibility between Tamron lenses and cameras, please refer to the following page;
>>Compatible lens chart -
Q02Is there a difference between the "Macro" written on macro lenses and the "Macro" written on zoom lenses?
Zoom lenses with macro capability are geared towards the image quality of general shooting, while still enabling easy close-up shooting with their macro capability.
-
Q01Images shot at close distance have a wider angle of view.
The focal length is specified at an infinite shooting distance and its angle of view (AOV) at an infinite distance is the same as other lenses. AOV at closer distance depends on the mechanical focus design of the lens. An IF (Internal Focus) lens tends to give a wider AOV.
-
Q02When I use a macro lens, the maximum aperture value displayed on the camera is smaller than designated on the lens.
This phenomenon, during close-distance shooting with a macro lens, is not a lens defect, but is a camera characteristic. Macro lenses apply an exposure magnification ratio during close-distance shooting. Usually this value is not displayed, but is just used internally to determine the exposure. However, Nikon cameras show the actual aperture value, so the maximum aperture value displayed on the camera is sometimes smaller than designated on the lens.
-
Q03When I point an all-in-one zoom lens downwards, the lens barrel extends.
The structure of all-in-one zoom lenses with significant telescopic motion is such that zoom creep is unavoidable during their use.
We recommend that you use the "zoom lock switch". -
Q04Flaws (dusts or blemishes or shadows) are appearing on my photos.
It is quite common for fine particles of dust on, or in front of, the camera's internal imaging sensor to show up in the photo. They are not caused by the lens in any of the following circumstances.
-The flaws appear in the same place even when the focus or zoom is changed.
-The flaws are blurred when the photo is shot with an open aperture, but appear clearly when the aperture is closed.
-The flaws do not appear when another camera is used. Or they appear in a different place. -
Q05The display in the viewfinder shakes when I start or end the Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism.
The phenomenon of the display shaking when VC starts and ends is a normal part of VC's operation and is therefore not abnormal.
* Model B018 uses an electromagnetic lock method locking the VC lens in the center of optical system using electric power supplied by the camera.
Therefore, when the camera power is turned on or the shutter button is pressed halfway, the viewfinder image will move but is not a malfunction.When shooting with the camera fixed on a tripod, turn on the camera power and decide the composition with the shutter button pressed halfway. -
Q06A lens which is removed from the camera makes a rattling noise.
When a lens is removed from a camera while VC is active, such as the lens is released from the camera immediately after the shutter was released, a rattling sound will happen.
Please attach the lens to the camera again, and there will be no sound. -
Q07The zoom ring does not move.
Affected model: A022 (150-600mm G2)The Model A022 (150-600mm G2) has the "FLEX-ZOOM LOCK MECHANISM". The mechanism is intended to stop the lens from zooming inadvertently at any position. Rotate the zooming ring to the zoom position, and then apply the lock after you have determined the position.
- Setting the zoom lock: Move the zooming ring to the subject side until the white mark is visible.
- Releasing the zoom lock: Move the zooming ring to the camera side.
Please refer to the following; -
Q08Error code appears.
There may be a temporary poor contact between the camera and the lens.
Please clean the contacts of the camera and the lens with a clean cloth or silicone cloth and try again.
If the problem cannot be resolved, there may be a problem with the lens.

Q11AF does not work in combination with Tamron lens and the Nikon camera.
Some of Tamron lenses for Nikon have two models, a new type with built-in AF motor (N II type) and an old type without built-in AF motor (N type). It has been changed since 2008.
For the presence or absence of the AF motor, please make sure that the lens barrel has an “AF/MF” selector switch. If it has an "AF/MF" selector switch, it is a type with a built-in AF motor.
* For Model 272E (90mm macro), please judge by the aperture ring. With aperture ring: AF motor non-built-in type
If you do not have a built-in AF motor, AF will not work in combination with the Nikon cameras which are "non-AF motor type (D5000 series, D3000 series, etc.)". -

Q05Can I replace a lens mount for one camera maker with a lens mount for another camera maker?
All Tamron lenses now in the market are maker-specific fixed mount lenses. They cannot be changed (modified or converted by using an adapter) for use with other makers. If you have a mount lens for a certain camera maker, you can only use it on that maker's cameras.
