The TAMRON 25-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III VXD G2 (Model A075) is the successor to the highly acclaimed 28-200mm F/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD (Model A071), reborn as an advanced 2nd-generation “G2” model. As the originator of modern all-in-one zoom lenses, TAMRON celebrates its 75th anniversary with this new cutting-edge lens.
The new G2 model maintains its compact size while expanding the wide end from 28mm to 25mm and preserving the 200mm telephoto range. It offers improved image quality and faster, more precise autofocus powered by TAMRON's VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism. With a maximum magnification ratio of 1:1.9 at the 25mm wide end, the lens also provides half-macro shooting.
Combining portability with uncompromising performance, this next-generation all-in-one zoom lens supports creative expression for everyone from beginners to professionals. Experience the full potential of an all-in-one zoom, reimagined.
With its 8x zoom range, the 25-200mm F2.8-5.6 G2 is ready for any scene — from casual everyday snaps to sweeping landscapes at the wide range and sports photography at the telephoto range. Ideal for travel or outdoor shooting where compactness and versatility are key, it also excels at portraiture with beautifully rendered bokeh.
Despite its fast F2.8 aperture at the 25mm wide end, the lens remains highly portable with a compact 121.5mm (4.8in) length and light 575g (20.3oz) weight, making it easy to carry and comfortable to use even for long periods. Designed for intuitive operation, the smooth, responsive zoom and focus rings deliver a seamless shooting experience in any situation.
Despite being an all-in-one zoom lens, the 25-200mm F2.8-5.6 G2 delivers consistently high resolution from wide-angle to telephoto, thanks to TAMRON’s advanced optical engineering. It faithfully reproduces textures and fine details — even the subtle nuances of skin and individual strands of hair in portraits — with striking clarity.
TAMRON’s BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating effectively reduces ghosting and flare, ensuring sharp, vibrant images across the frame. The lens also produces beautiful, natural bokeh that enhances subject separation and creates softly rendered backgrounds.
Equipped with VXD, TAMRON’s fastest and most precise linear motor focus mechanism to date, this lens delivers outstanding autofocus performance. It offers quick and accurate focusing across the entire zoom range with minimal noise, so it's ideal for both stills and video.
Compared to the 1st-generation 28-200mm F2.8-5.6, both AF speed and subject tracking have been significantly improved, allowing you to stay locked on fast-moving subjects even during zooming or burst shooting.
Whether you’re photographing children at play, energetic pets, or fast-paced sports, this responsive AF system helps you capture every decisive moment with confidence.
At the 25mm wide end, the lens achieves an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of just 0.16m (6.3in) allowing for an impressive maximum magnification ratio of 1:1.9 — an improvement over the 1:3.1 of the 1st-generation model at its 28mm. This allows half-macro shooting at the 25mm wide end and lets you get closer to your subject across the entire zoom range.
From flowers and insects to small, highly-detailed objects, you can capture fine textures and intricate details with stunning clarity — expanding your creative possibilities for close-up photography.
The 25-200mm F2.8-5.6 G2 is compatible with the dedicated TAMRON Lens Utility software (for PC and Android™ 1 OS) that was developed in-house by TAMRON.2 TAMRON Lens Utility for mobile is especially useful for outdoor shooting.
This software lets you assign practical functions to the lens for both video and still photography using a PC, smartphone, or tablet — eliminating the need for traditional video equipment. Designed to be intuitive and easy to use, TAMRON Lens Utility increases lens functionality and elevates your creative experience. For example, you can customize the Focus Set Button to toggle between AF and MF, tailoring the lens to your preferred shooting style. The PC version also allows you to update your lens firmware.3

Enhanced Exterior Surface
Our engineers carefully considered the structure and all key parts down to the finest details, resulting in an enhanced design that updates both operation and ergonomic considerations. The surface of the lens exterior is shiny and glossy black. Improved abrasion resistance makes the lens harder to scratch and resists fingerprints. The material on the zoom and focus rings are also updated to offer better grip performance with deeper grooves. The smoothly curved, glossy surface of the brand ring creates a dignified appearance with a design that signifies functional beauty and high quality.

Smooth and User-Friendly Zoom and Focus Rings
The zoom and focus rings have been further refined from the 1st-generation 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 to deliver an even smoother, more comfortable feel. By minimizing uneven resistance and friction during rotation, the design ensures precise operation when zooming or focusing — allowing for accurate, intuitive control that supports your creative intentions.
Nearly all TAMRON mirrorless lenses have a 67mm filter size. This allows you to use the same filter across a wide range of lenses. PL and ND filters are typically expensive, so sharing saves money. Additionally, this eliminates the need to search for caps with different diameters when switching lenses. All lenses in this series are compact, lightweight, and extremely portable, making it easier when carrying multiple lenses at the same time.
