Tamron announces the launch of a New Compact φ43mm Machine-Vision Lens Compatible with 1.1" Imagers and Full-24-Mega Pixel Resolution (MA111F35VIR)

(President & CEO: Shiro Ajisaka; Headquarters: Saitama City, Japan), a leading manufacturer of optics for diverse applications, announces the market-launch of a new model of a φ43mm compact-size machine-vision fixed-focal lens, compatible with 1.1” imagers and full 24-mega pixel high-resolution*, Model MA111F35VIR (focal length 35mm). With this, in addition to the three currently available models—MA111F16VIR (focal length 16mm), MA111F25VIR (focal length 25mm), and MA111F50VIR (focal length 50mm)—the new MA111F series of machine-vision lenses now offesr four focal length choices for a wide range of applications. Each in the series is compatible with 1.1” imagers and full 24-mega pixel resolution.

Mega-pixel cameras used for machine-vision applications including production equipment, substrate mounting equipment, various test equipment, and various engineering machines, are migrating toward higher resolution. Due to the accelerating speed of integration and miniaturization of semiconductor and electrical components, higher definition and resolution are required for the inspection of these devices. Higher resolution is also required in areas other than machine-vision, for example, in areas of social infrastructure such as traffic monitoring and transportation surveillance (ITS), as well as for railroad system monitoring and inspection.
To meet the strong demand for higher resolution in these growing application areas, Tamron adds the new model MA111F35VIR to the currently available three models of machine-vision lens compatible with 1.1” imagers and 24-mega pixel resolution (MA111F Series). The new MA111F Series now offers focal lengths of 16mm F/2.8, 25mm F/2.8, 35mm F/2.8, and 50mm F/2.8.
A new optical technology adopted in the MA111F series suppresses the amount of focus-shift occurring between the visible-light and the NIR bands to a minimum, offering an ideal solution for monitoring of transportation infrastructure etc.

1. Unrivaled High Resolution and Contrast in the Industry
The new model is compatible with 1.1” imagers, supporting 2.5μm pixel-pitch and 24-mega (max) pixel resolution, offering resolution and contrast outperforming other 24-mega pixel lenses in the market.

2. Industry-leading Low Distortion (TV Distortion)
Tamron’s state-of-the-art optics technology significantly reduces TV distortion in comparison with the previous models.

3. High-Quality Performance from Close-up to Infinity
A new comprehensive lens design covering both close-up and infinity shooting distances assures high contrast and resolution throughout the whole range of focal length.
4. New Robust Anti-Vibration and Anti-Shock Mechanism
A newly developed mechanism improves the anti-vibration and anti-shock performance compared with previous models, limiting the optical (image) deflection to less than 10μm even under the severe impact of vibrations and shocks of max 10G of magnitude.
*Vibration frequency 10-150Hz (acceleration 50m/s2), repetition 20 cycles.
5. Reduction of Focus-Shift in between the Visible-Light and the NIR Bands
Focus-shift experienced in the wide spectrum of 400nm to 850nm is reduced to an absolute minimum, making the new lens an ideal match with cameras compatible with the visible-light and the NIR band.
6. A Common-use Setscrew is Included as a Standard Accessary
The included lock-screw can be replaced with an embedding-type setscrew, also included. This further minimizes the overall diameter of the lens barrel for more compact installation.
