The 20-40mm F2.8 features a unique focal range starting at 20mm. At the 20mm ultra wide-angle end, it provides a sense of depth and scale that conventional standard zoom lenses simply cannot match, capturing the full essence of a landscape. At the same time, the range up to 40mm is ideal for everyday snapshots and portraits. When used with APS-C mirrorless cameras, it provides a full-frame equivalent of 30-60mm — offering the flexibility to handle any scene without changing lens.
The compact, lightweight design ensures exceptional handling, offering a significant advantage for video shooting. The 20-40mm F2.8 remains perfectly balanced even when mounted on camera grips or compact gimbals, making it ideal for handheld shooting and vlogging. The AF drive features the VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism. This high-speed, high-precision system tracks subjects smoothly and accurately from MOD (Minimum Object Distance) to infinity, reliably following moving subjects during video shooting. Furthermore, the quietness of the linear motor allows for inconspicuous shooting in noise-sensitive environments, whether for stills or video.
